Missouri organic crop producers vary greatly in what they produce and in the quantities they produce, from commercial size operations with production ranging from 500-1500 acres to small farmers producing less than twenty-five. Typically, vegetable and fruit producers farm even smaller tracts of less than one acre up to twenty-five acres.

Not only is there a variation in size of operations in Missouri; but, also, in the types of crops produced...
- vegetables and fruits
- food and feed-grade soybeans
- hard red winter wheat
- yellow dent corn for livestock feed
- blue and white corn for organic tortilla chips
- spelt
- popcorn
- sunflowers
- oats
- hay
- specialty crops:dry edible black beans, white food-grade milo, flax, and other small organic grains.
Most fruit and vegetable producers sell directly to consumers, retail stores or restaurants. Grain farmers sell to the wholesale market. The organic grain farmer does not have the option of selling their products to the local elevator. Most organic grain farmers sell their products wholesale bulk through brokers or directly to grain processors. They must negotiate their own selling price. Therefore, it is important farmers network with several marketing resources to receive fair market value for their products.
The following list is not comprehensive for organic grain markets. The Missouri Organic Association does not endorse or take responsibility for the services provided by any of the processors and/or brokers listed.
